Not a lot of tatting around here - -nuntium duocentesimum quinquagesimum sextum

Tim of Timtatstoo kindly shared his pattern for shuttles for a 3D printer.  Thanks to him and my very patient and kind Science teacher colleague, we have:

The kids will be so excited to learn (or at least have) a shuttle from our very own printer!

Why no tatting?  Well, it's Latin Week this week and there's been a lot of preparation.  Monday was Roman-themed hat day.  Here's mine.

It's only Tuesday... this is going to be a no tat week, I think.

Wanda's Branson bookmark -nuntium duocentesimum quinquagesimum quintum

I saw this on Wanda's blog.  The picture isn't very good but it's a cute bookmark.
I like this color, Lizbeth Grape Splash.

Yesterday was French day in school.  Wednesday after school, elder daughter and I plastered the school with postcards, posters and pictures about  all things French. It took us about three hours.  I have my own hallway into my classroom and we hung red, white and blue streamers there.  We had croissants with Nutella or Bonne Maman preserves.  The kids (and I) wore our berets all day, spoke French all day, played French Twister with the 6th graders, made and ate crêpes during class and in general had a great time.  After school I took everything down, another three hours...  But the smiles were well worth it!

Pendants? - nuntium duocentesimum quinquagesimum quartum

My sister said to make more pendants- she thinks we'll be able to sell them.  "We" because she sells my tatting to unsuspecting co-workers.  : )  I saw something similar on Pinterest so gave it a go.

I bet you've seen that combination before....  These are really little, just larger than a quarter.  I don't mind.  If I can sell them for a few dollars, that's more than was in my pocket this morning!

Today was an "exciting" day at school.  My computer crashed about 5 minutes after school started.  I mean really crashed.  Like the Tech guy (Jon- a superhero) had to reinstall the operating system.  Thankfully I had taught many years without a computer so I was able to punt.  Tech class was a bit challenging but the kids really rallied around and were very helpful as I was trying to present from memory on a different computer.  Seriously, anyone who tells you that middle schoolers are tough just simply doesn't spend time with them.  End of story- my computer is working again, just like before.

Blue ice drop - nuntium duocentesimum quinquagesimum tertium

I thought of Diane the Lace Lovin' Librarian the whole time I made this one!

What do we think of the graduated picots with beads?  I can't decide.  I love graduated picots but it seems like it should be an either/or but not both.

Thanks again for checking out my daughter's shop.  VERY, very kind of you all, I'm not surprised though.

Red and White or Angel's fire. - nuntium duocentesimum quinquagesimum secundum

I've been working on crosses for graduation and retirement.  Our school colors are red and white so Lizbeth Angel Fire is a good one.  I do find the change abrupt and sometimes it really puts me off.

I don't know if the variegation adds or detracts.  These are all from Lene Bjørn's Tatted Bookmarks- cross-shaped.

New ice drop - - nuntium duocentesimum quinquagesimum primum

Here's what I made yesterday with my fellow tatters and while sitting with the family as they watched basketball.

I've been thinking about this one for a long time- the color combo and beads.  Yesterday I finally had the time to do something about those thoughts!  I don't know what to do with it though.  Should I make a pin out of it?  A pendant?  One of my daughters suggested a suncatcher.  I just don't know.  This is the deadly part.  When I don't know, it languishes in my box of finished-but-what-will-I-do-with-it stuff.

And thank you for the lovely suggestions about the pin.  I'm going to try them all!!

And thank you to those who looked at my girl's shop.  She was so excited last night to tell me about all the views!

ITD - nuntium duocentesimum quinquagesimum

In honor of International Tatting Day, Twin Cities Tatters got together for a bonus meeting- yay!  We had brand new tatters and others who are "more experienced" and someone who knits and weaves the most beautiful things.  And thanks to Marlene, we even had chocolate!
Cindy put together this picture for us so if you see it on her blog, know that I'm the copycat!
We had a lot of fun, somehow those two hours go by so quickly.  It's such a treat to get together with others who love the same thing.
Here's another pin I've made.  Somehow I'm not sure of it-why?  I don't know.  Something just isn't quite there for me.
This one was actually the first one.
I don't know, should I keep going with them? Do you have suggestions for improvements?

My elder daughter has sold her first piece on Etsy!  She is over the moon.  I won't mention any names for fear of invasion of privacy but you wouldn't be surprised by this generous tatter's heart.  Anyway, each night she reports to me the number of views so if you have nothing else to do, would you go click on her shop? (This is a gorgeous piece that has non-functioning scissors in it.) Thank you!
