Happy Accident? nuntium duocentesimum quattuordecimum

I didn't mean to make this but I started on the wrong "arm" on the Julie Patterson cross.  I could have cut and tied and started a new round but I thought it kind of cute.

And I *think* I'm going to try Renulek's doily.  Here's what I've chosen.

Both are "vintage" threads from Aunt Rose-E which means they are possibly 50+ years old. How exciting. And it's that wee stuff, cleverly called "tatting crochet", yikes!  Where's the magnifying glass?

  5. That is a happy mistake! I think it looks really nice. I love the colors you've chosen for Renulek's doily. I think Aunt Rose-E would be pleased!

  6. What a wonderful mistake! It's really beautiful. As to the small thread, my trick is that I keep several pairs of 1.5 and 1.75 cheap reading glasses around. I look rather silly with a pair of them propped on my nose in front of my bifocal eyeglasses, but it works. Some of them are very colorful, too!

  8. Yes, makes a very good motif! I don't think I can be tempted by the new Renulek but I'm looking forward to watching others make it.
