nuntium centesimum duodesexagesimum - complete!

It's done, unpinned and in its new home- the Quatrain!

Sorry for all the pictures, I couldn't help it!

I smile each time I walk past it.

But now there's a weird bit of project let-down.  Seriously.  Or it could be my daughter going off to college.

Next I'd like to make a bag/reticule.  I've looked and don't see many patterns.  Do you have a favorite one?  I like the style of this one

I've done one of Jon Yusoff's patterns- Cintamani from her book Elegant Tatting Gems, three Vicki Clarke- my favorite heart ever (talk about a comfort tat) and started a mini-dragon from a tatter at "intatters" but I'm ready for another project.

Reticules, anyone?

nuntium vicesimum sextum (26th post) Where I continue to be spoiled!

I continue to be ridiculously spoiled.  I had the chance to get together with THREE tatters yesterday but before I get to that....

I have finished 13 motifs for the Quatrain which means only 141 left to go!

So, thanks to the goodness of Diane's husband, two of her daughters and grandchildren, Happy Bluebird and I got to meet with the Lace-lovin' Librarian herself!  We had so much fun!  Diane and Cindy are so generous look at all the goodies they brought (hence the title of the post).
One of the beautiful 4th of July shuttles, the turtle shuttle, red, white and blue beads, a great scissor fob and thread too!  (and the cool bag)

Oh my goodness, homemade strawberry jam!

We chatted for three hours and my elder daughter, who learned to tat last summer, came too so we were four tatters!  My daughter took a picture so here we are...
Me, Cindy and Diane
It's been great having my husband home and but before he got here, I was able to clean out the "blue room closet".  Yarn and thread and more.  When she passed away, I couldn't go through my great Aunt Rose-E's things but just put them in the drawers.  But after reading Gina's blog and the story of Carol Moser,  I would like to dole out some of Rose-e's works just so other tatters can see what she did.  She loved making handkerchiefs so here are four. She would cut off the corner and replace them with tatting.

And this one, which Diane said must be done with sewing thread, she cut off all four corners and replaced.
I'll do more of Aunt Rose-E in future posts.  She was a fabulous model and god-mother.

I made this dragon in April so I'm going to count it toward my 25-motif challenge as motif #6.
motif #6
And lastly, my daughter and I decided to try to decorate some shuttles that my dear sister found at an antiques show last weekend.  Here's my attempt.
And here's what my daughter did:

Well, someone has to make dinner so that'll be me.  (I love cooking)  Pasta with Thai peanut sauce, cucumber salad and bruschetta - yum.

I love summer!

(How do you like that signature?  Happy Bluebird gave me the info for that!!)

nuntium vicesimum secundum (22nd post) "Maman, can you..."

My little daughter asked me about a week ago, "Maman, can you make me another dragon ... for a bookmark?"  (Never mind that I had to write a dreadful paper this week.)
I've made Anne Bruvold's minor Norwegian dragons before but I wanted it to be more of a bookmark so with some input from my two girls, we came up with this.
motif #2

Is it too dopey?  The tassel is supposed to be a tongue of flame.  It's Lizbeth size 20 but sadly I can't remember the name of the color of the dragon but the "fire" is Falling Leaves.

My mailbox has been a series of treats this week, more to come about that soon.  I'm still SO lucky.

Speaking of lucky, today I had the chance to get together with some local tatters for a couple hours.  We had so much fun!  We worked on Jane Eborall's no blip join and the struggled to remember how to the SSSR which I taught the others in April.  Just shows you have to continue to use techniques once you learn them.  We had a great time exploring the Happy Bluebird's color nook (and looking up Jane E's pattern and techniques page to refresh our memories.  Mainly it's just so fun to get together with others with our unusual common interest.  To talk about tatting and have someone understand is so great!

Now the other daughter wants a dragon too so that will keep me away from the Quatrain a little longer.

Lastly, does anyone have a suggestion for a easy, simple cross?  I would like to make some for thank yous, the kind of thing I can make easily while waiting or during a presentation- I'm going to a conference tomorrow and Sunday.
