Calixa - - nuntium trecesimum vicesimum quintum

Thank you all for your kind encouragement!  I have been tatting.  Less than usual but I still am.  By the end of the day with all the typing I do, I can't quite tat for as long as I would like.

But I have managed to make 2 3/4  Calixa snowflakes which are Frivole's 2019 snowflake.
One!
3/4 or 5/6 I suppose.  So close but a total screw up in round one.  Grr.
Number #2

I'm wondering about blogging anymore.  Do people read blogs?  I do -but I wonder.  I have started instagram (for tatting and rarely a few other things).  If you'd like to follow me, here's my thing @mamagistra  It's a private account but if you're a tatter, I'll "approve" you.

  1. I read tatting blogs daily, though I rarely leave comments. It’s so quick and easy to post on Instagram and to leave a like on other people’s photos. I think blogger still has its place for sharing links, tutorials, and patterns so I will be keeping active on both Instagram and blogger.

  2. I do! I hope you’ll keep blogging, I think it’s a shame that so many tatting blogs have disappeared. Facebook is much more difficult to follow, comments and posts disappear. I’m not on instagram. Beautiful snowflake, second time round!

  3. I do, too! And always will 😄 I prefer blogging because blog is the most Open forum and easy to search through. I like Facebook for quick scrolls and reaction buttons, and inspiration. But questions/answers are repeated as nauseum, and stuff gets 'lost'.
But it is 'alive', more than blogs, since we don't stop to comment in the latter.
I share my entire learning experience, which is another reason blogging is the best format for me.
I feel Instagram is essentially similar to Pinterest.
Each platform has it's merits if it is in sync with one's objectives.

  5. Your snowflake is beautiful! I have the pattern, but I've been caught up in other projects, so it may take a while for me to get to it.

I have an Instagram account, as you know, but I seldom think to use it. I use Facebook regularly, because my relatives can find me easily on Facebook. Also, I keep in touch with Ice Drop Addicts and Tollway Tatters through Facebook. However, blogging is my favorite format. I can post short or long entries, add as many photos as I like, and comments are easy to access.

There are times when I feel like just closing my computer and walking away from technology, but blogging is what has helped me keep my focus and complete projects. I hope Blogger never goes away!

  6. I read blogs on a daily basis and am disappointed that so many seem to have abandoned them in favor of Facebook. I detest FB for all the adds and inability to find things I just saw because the page refreshes. I'm not on Instagram or any of the other popular social media sites.

  7. There are many blogs that I follow. I just opened a Facebook page to be part of a quilting group but I find it more enjoyable to read a blog. Not on Instagram.

  9. I only use blogger. I don't really want to have tons of accounts all over the internet(it already knows wayyyy too much about everyone)! ;)
I love seeing your tatting on the blog and miss when you haven't been on for awhile. I have noticed a major drop in how many people seem to be on the blogs anymore, but you have a really good amount of people who have responded here!!
    Great snowflakes!!! :)

  11. I do not blog as much as I used too, partly because of time and also not really having enough tatting to show. What I like the most about blogging is having a good record of what I have been doing throughout the years. Have little time to read blog posts but when I do it is very enjoyable and not so cluttered and fast moving as Instagram and facebook, although I have accounts with them too!
