Overenthusiastic tatting - nuntium duocentesimum sexagesimum sextum

I tatted on the airplane.  Tricky though as there's no real place to lay things out.  And certainly no iron.

Too much by one.  I shall have to cut and splice.  sigh.  And now the crocheting on.  Double sigh.

England is lovely and cool, back home they are roasting, poor things.  In sympathy, the Italians have arranged really hot weather for our visit next week.  : )

Here's a funny picture I sent my daughters today:
What's this all about, you ask?  I don't know how it started but this silly little plastic lion has been handed off between us for about a year.  He's been in the bathroom cupboard, slipped under doors, hidden in my tatting bag, tucked in among croissants and then the recipient must "pass him along".  Since my daughter tucked him in purse as I was leaving, I can't give him back so I've been tormenting them with pictures.

  1. I never tat on the plane in case I drop something on the floor!! I do in the departure lounge sometimes to relieve the boredom!!!!
It's darned hot by our normal standards here in the middle of England and it's only July!!!! Where were you?

    1. I'm staying with a dear friend in Birmingham who has also told me it's "quite warm". Since it's 34 at home and going to be 30 in Italy, I'm viewing this as cool! : ) I have tatted on the plane with a ball before and had the darn thing fall and roll under two rows! Fortunately people are kind and then interested so it was okay. Whew!

  2. I would have liked to tat on the plane to Australia, but the cabin was too dark! Like Jane, I only tatted in airports. The lion is having plenty of adventures!

    1. I have a little reading light that clips onto books or other convenient things that goes in my "traveling in airplanes tatting pouch". Works well unless you need batteries. (sigh). Dark blue thread was tough too.

  4. I've tatted on the plane, but not frequently. I really don't fly very often! When I did tat on the plane, I used two shuttles and no picot gauge. Since I tend to be picot challenged, my tatting was not as pretty as I would have liked!

    I love the little lion!

  5. Enjoy your time! Yes it is "quite warm" here in Italy too! So that is a great excuse for the new edging I'm tatting for a fan! Lovely hanky, what if you use the extra length in corners?
