nuntium octogesimum sextum (86th post) State Fair

Gotcha, didn't I?  You thought I entered things into the State Fair?  Nope.  People around here go to our fair multiple times but not me.  But every year, I peek in just once and go to the Creative Arts building.  I love to see all the entries (not just tatting) but sometimes I am saddened by the beautiful piece that someone has spent hours and hours making, only to find it in a sea of many other things.  It just looks like any-ol'-thing.  So I try to look carefully and take time.
Plus it's fun to see the tatting.  Here's what I saw:
Isn't this lovely?

Gorgeous- just once I want to see someone wearing one like this.

Simple and lovely

Sweet!

This one would have been my winner!

Pretty and simple

Look at the little Ladyslipper!

Anyone know this pattern?

Hmmm.

This frill is nice.

I like this one too!

So, no tatting of my own, but maybe next year!

  2. lots of very nice tatting. as for the pattern for that cross, I have no idea, but it shouldn't be too hard to figure out. I would suspect the stitch counts are all 3s or 4s. and you should be able to figure out the joining spots just looking at the picture.

    1. I just enlarged the pictures of the cross, took a look at the stitch bumps and I think they used 5ds between picots on the rings and chains and the small rings in the center are 5-5 as well.

    2. Duh, I didn't think to enlarge the pic. It is pretty simple but somehow pleasing too.

  3. Oh wow, that's a lot of tatting that was entered! The fair that I entered my tatted doily in only had 3 pieces of tatting entered. All of them were my own. (in different categories of course) :o(

  5. *sigh* I only found out this year that we even have a county fair ... and it's a town that I didn't even realize was part of our county (never thought much of the town, LOL). I'm going to have to take a look next year now, but I can almost guarantee there would be no tatting. I don't even know if there are contests in which to enter things! Blah. I hate this state. >.<

Wow, I'm whiny. Guess I should have stuck to being silent for another night. ...Or I should have stuck to putting together your little gift...

  6. What a lovely lot of tatting, I love the little picture of the flowers in your first picture. The dollies are beautiful and there's a lot of work gone into them, The cross is beautiful but I don't know the pattern. Thank you sharing your lovely pictures,
    Margaret
