Did you know her full name is Latin for "queen"? Somehow that doesn't surprise me, she certainly was one of the "queens" of my tatting world.
Resquiescat in pace, Regina nostra.
I've been tatting. Last week, we took our 7th graders to the north woods of Minnesota for three days. Fun but exhausting! And lots of time to tat. Here's what I made:
motif #16 |
One of my dear former students is getting married in June. I wanted to do something special for this wonderful young woman so I asked if I could make the "something blue". It's Frivole's Iris edging. Lovely to make and I think it turned out pretty well (despite my utter lack of crochet ability).
And I managed this little Happy Heart (Frivole's too) before the retreat too. Isn't it sweet? I'm no whiz at Catherine Wheel joins but I think it's coming soon.
Beautiful Michelle! That came out so splendidly :-). The prettiest blue and a gorgeous edging design...beauifully executed!
ReplyDeleteI love that edging, and the blue is perfect!
ReplyDeleteMichelle - that blue edging is gorgeous! I like the blue crochet all around :) Your former student is a lucky bride - what a beautiful gift.
ReplyDeleteI love the scalloped handkerchief, and the edging is SO regal. You navigated those corners perfectly! There are a LOT of picots, and your corcheting is just fine! Am I correct you did this in three days?!! Amazing! Good for you for having it done in plenty of time for the wedding! A VERY special gift!
ReplyDeleteI also tatted Frivole's heart, and I found a special pendant for it to fit in and have been enjoying wearing it. As explained in my post, I also had a little trouble with the Catherine Wheel join, but, happily the hear turned out great anyway! It's a nifty little pattern!
We're still reeling from the news about Gina. Indeed her Latin name does describe her perfectly.
Actually, I had started a few days before but the vast majority was the three days. And then another hour yesterday to try to crochet it on!
DeleteBeautiful edging. That is a lovely gift. And your Catherine Wheel join looks great!
ReplyDeleteFox : )
wonderful edging Michelle, and you heart is cute. congrats on your retreat. for what reason do you take 7th graders for 3 days in the woods?
ReplyDeleteWe take them for a "Friendship" retreat every year. We work on the idea of being a class for the whole group and what it means to be a good friend. There are lots of activities which mix them up in new ways and they also get to hang out with friends. And there's a youth pastor who comes and gives 4 talks about friendship. It's always a wonderful time and fun.
DeleteI tuoi lavori sono sempre molto belli ed eleganti.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely gift, I hope she has a wonderful day and something to treasure for the rest of her life, gorgeous edging.
ReplyDeleteI also like the happy heart pattern I have not posted mine yet.
