nuntium centesimum quadrigesimum quintum (145th post) 3D flowers?

Fox inspired me to blog more.  It's not that I don't want to.

So, I've been making crosses, crosses and crosses.  All size 20 Lizbeth.  Surprisingly, I won one of the divisions at Zigzag Corner so I had a huge prize and my neighbor gave me a gift certificate so I went hog wild and ordered one of everything.

Julie Patterson's cross

Why so many crosses?  Well, anyone who invites their old Latin teacher to graduation gets one and this is my daughter's senior year so I figure I might get a few invites.

motif #24 (my own design!)
This little creature is my very own invention although I suspect others have invented it before.  Our goddaughter will have her First Communion in May so I'm working on a veil for her.  Really more of a headpiece than a veil.  I'm quite pleased with myself for starting so early but I imagine I will still be sewing it together on the way there....

I've also been doing the TIAS which I love.  I love tatting the same thing with people all over the world. No picture because the only picture I have is from a few days ago.   For so, so many years I was the only tatter except Aunt Rose-E and she lived 10 hours away so to have the community of Tat-land is absolutely wonderful.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

    1. Thanks! Sometimes I really go for picots and then others almost picotless except for joins. Interesting.

  3. Love those 3-D flowers! I hope you'll show us the finished veil. The crosses are lovely, such pretty colours. Yes, contact with tatters in blogland is wonderful, since so many of us are isolated in the 'real' world.

  5. Nice to see you back in blogland, I agree with Jane I am one of many isolated in the real world.

  6. Lovely crosses! It seems that no matter how many crosses I tat, I never have enough. I love the 3D flowers, and I hope you'll show us the finished head piece.

  9. All your crosses look good. They come in handy to have around, other than just graduations. Love the little flower - it looks great. Looking forward to seeing the headpiece or veil or whatever it comes to be.

  10. Very lovely job! I am inspired by your mastery of the cord and tassel. :) I made one of those crosses a couple of months ago for a sick friend, and my cord and tassel work were quite amateur, but *whispers* I don't think she knew how bad it was and was very gracious! :D I will keep practicing. You have inspired me to keep trying!

    1. Oh thank you! I used to hate to make the cord and tassels, in fact one summer I didn't give the kids their crosses until August because I put it off so long but then I watched a video on how to do a spiral chain and another video on how to make a tassel and now I love to do them! They're like the cherry on top for me! If you want, I'll look around and see if I can find the videos again.

  11. If you find it, awesome, but no worries. I should be able to google or Youtube it myself right? I did find a bookmark pattern with the tassel/cord explained very well. I didn't groove on the bookmark so much, but you bet I saved that pattern so I can try the tassel tutorial! :D

    1. I found the tassel video: http://s991.photobucket.com/user/xstchntat/media/Tatting/Demos/MVI_1937.mp4.html but no luck on the spiral chain. The ones I've found are either someone who tats very differently than I do (beautiful work of course) and the method is lost in the alternate tatting method or a needle tatter. But maybe you are a needle tatter?
