nuntium nonagesimum primum (91st post) more Tat-along

Here are my 12-year old's first joined rings.

Here's where I learned that if you poke yourself with a crochet hook, stop tatting with white thread.  Happy Bluebird says to spit on it, apparently your own spit works on your own blood.
Round 3 done.  The safety pin is so I can do front side/back side.  I can do it but it takes forever for me to figure out which is which.

Getting started on round 4.

I've decided to go the split ring method for those little clovers.  I *think* I like it.

nuntium nonagesimum (90th post) Tat-along

I get to do the Tat-along, I get to do the Tat-along...
Even trying front side/back side for this one.  Maybe I'll enter it in the Fair!

It is so fun to see what everyone is doing with this.  The idea that so many of us are doing the same pattern all over the world is just thrilling.  I bet Norma B is smiling and smiling wherever she is.  Mine is Lizbeth size 20, white and deep purple.

nuntium undenonagesimum (89th post) Doodad, doodad! Toshti

Here's what I did with the other doodad.  I loved Jon's Toshti but I especially loved Diane's version of it so I copied what she did.
Not as good as Diane's but I like it!

My sister, the bead wizard, told me there's a bead shop just down the street from where I live.  It has a strange name and I never would have guessed it was a bead shop but sister says there are lots of doodads there!  Wahoo!  I've got so many ideas...

We (my tatting daughters) and I got together with Happy Bluebird (Cindy) yesterday for the first time in a few months.  Oh, did we have fun!  Cindy is one of the nicest people ever and it was wonderful to hear of her travels in Finland.  And it's so wonderful to be able to bounce tatting ideas off another person.    My older daughter started a dragon in Lizbeth Blue Ice and is he ever lovely.  My younger daughter mastered rings, picots and joined her first rings together.  She's quite proud but not as much as her maman!   YD has almost not put her shuttle down (and I had to give her the business to shut off her light last night because she was tatting after lights out!).

We had tatting club at school last Wednesday and three diehards showed up and two others visited to see what was up.  The diehards are ready to try at patterns.  What suggestions do you have?  No more butterflies, they're tired of those.  One of the tatters is a boy and less interested in flowers and more things like lizards etc.  They're not ready yet for split rings (soon) but rings and chains patterns would be great.

I bet Aunt Rose-E is smiling big, especially about my girls.

nuntium duodenonagesimum (88th post) go-to pattern?

Hmm.  I don't know that I'd say this is my go-to pattern but I have it memorized and if I'm somewhere with a bit of thread and nothing to do, I'll make one.  Does that count?
Still enchanted with the spiral chain

I love giving them to people.  They're simple and sweet.  It's Vicki Clarke's simple heart.

nuntium octogesimum septimum (87th post) directions

Honest to goodness, I bet I couldn't count how many times I have been frustrated with students who don't read directions.

Ahem. I got Frivole's lovely,  little Papillon and was so excited to tat it, I didn't bother with those silly instructions.
After tatting it once and still having a lot of thread left, I tried it again. But what are the words on the bottom? See page 2? Page 2? Duh. Now look!

motif #12

Isn't this one wonderful? Well, I like it!
I wish I could remember the thread but I can't.  It's some delicate something from Lace Lovin' Diane. In one of her generous offers to share her wealth with everyone.

Here they both are. Eep.
I like the RIGHT one.

Next time I think, "Kids these days!", I will take a deep breath and do my best to remember my own experience with something exciting and new and be more PATIENT!

nuntium octogesimum sextum (86th post) State Fair

Gotcha, didn't I?  You thought I entered things into the State Fair?  Nope.  People around here go to our fair multiple times but not me.  But every year, I peek in just once and go to the Creative Arts building.  I love to see all the entries (not just tatting) but sometimes I am saddened by the beautiful piece that someone has spent hours and hours making, only to find it in a sea of many other things.  It just looks like any-ol'-thing.  So I try to look carefully and take time.
Plus it's fun to see the tatting.  Here's what I saw:
Isn't this lovely?

Gorgeous- just once I want to see someone wearing one like this.

Simple and lovely

Sweet!

This one would have been my winner!

Pretty and simple

Look at the little Ladyslipper!

Anyone know this pattern?

Hmmm.

This frill is nice.

I like this one too!

So, no tatting of my own, but maybe next year!
