These are a few pictures I took today in Birmingham's beautiful Botanical Gardens. I am continually surprised by the plants which will grow in England versus Minnesota. After all, England is considerably more northern than Minnesota.
What is this flower? It's huge and wonderful (and unlabeled.) |
And just in case you weren't feeling very lucky today, imagine you are my neighbor who came home from the cabin to this.
We had a terrible storm a few weeks ago and even though our car was parked on the street on the opposite side, nothing happened to ours- (thank goodness!)
I've left my Martha Ess book at home so I'm not sure what Fox means to tackle the white flower. I could try Muskaan's idea. But first, round 16!
Your doily is stunning!!!! :) It reminds me of clear blue sunny skies with white fluffy clouds here and there. :)
ReplyDeleteDoily is looking fantastic! Always interesting to travel and see flowers in new places. The second one reminds me of that mystery tatted piece.
ReplyDeleteGlad you have managed another row, and I hope you are enjoying our beautiful weather, sorry it won't last very long.
ReplyDeleteYou ask for the name of the plant, it is a Marguerite Daisy native to the Canary Islands and the Latin name Argyranthemum Frutescens. There are a lot of plants that flower in this country from Europe and further afield. Some have to be over winter inside but then come outside for the summer.
I do hope you are enjoying your stay in England and the beautiful weather. Being able to do so much tatting is another bonus, your doily is looking great. So where to you plan to visit next?
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you're already on your second major trip overseas (I'd still be recovering from Italy!) And also can't believe you're tatting while there! I'd still be getting over jet lag! The doily looks great! Have a great time. Beautiful flowers - amazing that Margaret identified them!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful in your subtle colours! I'm working on row 14... nice flowers too
