Modern miracle - nuntium trecesimum vicesimum quartum

Doesn’t look like much, does it? But to me, it’s huge. Six weeks ago I was walking, fell down and broke three bones in my hand. I won’t show you any pictures because it was absolutely awful but thanks to the miracles of modern science, I can tat again. Five weeks to the day and almost the hour I was able to wrap thread around my hand,  hold my shuttle and tat.
I’ve been absolutely dedicated to the physical therapy and when I did all the exercises (most days),  it was over five hours of PT a day. I’m not complaining, I can use my hand and I can even tat!  My stitches are not perfect or even but I figure that it will be sort of like a visual record of my progress.   I can’t believe how lucky I feel to be able to do this again.

nuntium duodenonagesimum (88th post) go-to pattern?

Hmm.  I don't know that I'd say this is my go-to pattern but I have it memorized and if I'm somewhere with a bit of thread and nothing to do, I'll make one.  Does that count?
Still enchanted with the spiral chain

I love giving them to people.  They're simple and sweet.  It's Vicki Clarke's simple heart.

nuntium octogesimum septimum (87th post) directions

Honest to goodness, I bet I couldn't count how many times I have been frustrated with students who don't read directions.

Ahem. I got Frivole's lovely,  little Papillon and was so excited to tat it, I didn't bother with those silly instructions.
After tatting it once and still having a lot of thread left, I tried it again. But what are the words on the bottom? See page 2? Page 2? Duh. Now look!

motif #12

Isn't this one wonderful? Well, I like it!
I wish I could remember the thread but I can't.  It's some delicate something from Lace Lovin' Diane. In one of her generous offers to share her wealth with everyone.

Here they both are. Eep.
I like the RIGHT one.

Next time I think, "Kids these days!", I will take a deep breath and do my best to remember my own experience with something exciting and new and be more PATIENT!

nuntium octogesimum sextum (86th post) State Fair

Gotcha, didn't I?  You thought I entered things into the State Fair?  Nope.  People around here go to our fair multiple times but not me.  But every year, I peek in just once and go to the Creative Arts building.  I love to see all the entries (not just tatting) but sometimes I am saddened by the beautiful piece that someone has spent hours and hours making, only to find it in a sea of many other things.  It just looks like any-ol'-thing.  So I try to look carefully and take time.
Plus it's fun to see the tatting.  Here's what I saw:
Isn't this lovely?

Gorgeous- just once I want to see someone wearing one like this.

Simple and lovely

Sweet!

This one would have been my winner!

Pretty and simple

Look at the little Ladyslipper!

Anyone know this pattern?

Hmmm.

This frill is nice.

I like this one too!

So, no tatting of my own, but maybe next year!
